3D Printable Case

As time goes on the plastics on the case begin to deteriorate. It often happens when repairing these laptops that the plastics can break or errode due to other damage like battery leaking.

I recently took on the project to recreate the case in 3D. What resulted was a pretty awesome 3D printable case, with some drawbacks.

The current model is true-to-life, meaning that if you print any one of these parts (except for the RAM door) they will fit with any other original part. If you do end up printing a full case, make sure to re-use the metal case stiffeners and use a very strong material. More details can be found in the following video and the models can be downloaded from Printables.

Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to see an injection molded option and - If I get enough interest a Kickstarter may be in the future.

Enjoy!
